Blog Backlink Creation Part 3: Get backlinks to your blog by participating in the blogging community

An easy way to get backlinks to your blog is to just be social. Join forums that surround the topic your blog is about. Add in your signature and profile a link to your blog and be active on the site. Some forums have an area for members to post about their own blog in that case take advantage of it.

Don’t push your blog. People will smell an agenda a mile away. Just be an active member of the community and traffic will naturally come as long as you provide a link to your blog in your signature or profile.

Read blogs that cover the same topic as your own and be social by posting a comment if the topic interests you. In your comment you can leave a name, email and a backlink to your blog.

Don’t spam other blogs. Leave comments that add value and are intelligently written based on the article or post you just read. On one of my other blogs I delete at least ten comments a day that simply read “great post” or “I agree” as it is obvious these people are just trying to get a backlink. Don’t spam but be an active reader of the blog and leave meaningful comments. If you do this, your backlink will stay.

As discussed in the first post about why you should have backlinks, quality of backlinks make a difference in their value. Therefore you want to be sure you are spending your time where it counts. When looking for places to comment do a search for: blogs about (fill in the keywords your blog is about). Start with the first result and work your way down. Repeat with: forums for (fill in the keyword your blog is about).

Make it a habit to comment five times a day somewhere out there to help create more backlinks to your blog.
