Blog Backlink Creation Part 4: Get backlinks to your blog by asking and trading

A simple and effective way to get backlinks to your blog is just to ask. Since the quality of the backlink is important you need to consider who you are asking. Unlike posting comments  for backlinks or writing articles to get backlinks, asking a fellow blogger for a backlink requires a little more consideration.

If someone searches for a keyword and your blog comes up on page 142 do not ask the blog that comes up on page 1 or even page 50 to swap links or post a backlink to your blog. You need to start gaining backlinks by asking blogs that are around the same rank as you or slightly better. As your rank improves, you should ask better blogs to swap a backlink.

The better the rank of the blog you swap backlinks with, the better your rank will be. Bloggers know this. Top blogs get requests all the time for swaps and there is no reason for the top ones to do it other then just to be kind. Work on emailing bloggers and webmasters that are close to your rank and see if they would be willing to post a link to your blog.

Search on your keywords and find where you are in the search results. Flip a few pages forward and start contacting the bloggers to see if they would be willing to post a link to your blog. What is the worst thing that could happen? They say no?

Give it a try until you have ten blogs with your backlink. Every few months check where you are in the search results. If you have moved up, try contacting better blogs to trade backlinks. Eventually you will get to ask the blogs on page 1 but be patient.
