Google Adsense and making money with a blog

I have been on the fence lately if Adsense is really the way to go for me trying to make money online by blogging. I run around 6 blogs now all with very good traffic with the Blogging Center being the newest of them getting the least traffic at this point. Seems that there are so many other options out there that will pay per impression in addition to per click.

I think the per impression is ideal given that three of my sites are on page one for the keywords I went after so gets a lot of impressions but unfortunately the click rate on my google ads is not that high. I have tried moving around the google ads to make more money but it only helped a little bit. I am thinking now might be a good time to experiment. Maybe make it my 2010 goal to try a few new marketing providers and see if I can’t increase my blogging income a little.

The good news is that while Google used to not allow you to have other ads on the same blog as google, those days are long gone. So I can still leave a google advertisement up while experiment just in case I happen to get a click here and there. I know that many of the top bloggers make a lot of money with google but I think that is a bit of a misconception.

They didn’t always make that money with google. They make that money now that they have a ridiculous amount of traffic and so while their click rate is low it is still enough to bring in big bucks online. So we will see. I will experiment a little and let you know how it goes. A few places I am thinking about trying are:
